Similarweb 1.1.9 for Firefox is just around the corner. We’ve read your feedback and made a few changes that we’re pretty sure you’ll love.
First off, the menu button has been completely redesigned to become a simple access point to all of SimilarWeb’s features. And don’t worry, while we may have changed the look, all of your favorite features are still there, easier to use than ever before.
Clicking on the drop-down arrow brings a new menu down, containing all of the previous features in one convenient box, from TopSites to Reviews. Clicking on the tab will bring you to that feature for the current page your on, all without the hassle of having to open a new page or tab to find out what you want to know.
If the sidebar was more up your alley, the new menu button incorporates that as well. Clicking on the SimilarGroup icon opens and closes the toolbar without all the hassle that many toolbars require, letting you have the information at your fingertips when you so desire and easily getting it out of your way when you’re done.
You now can find our technology in the new search engine Blekko. Launched this week, Blekko is a very promising new search engine that uses a new system of searching known as Slashtags, which gives you the option to target your search in a group of sites. Slashtags is a great new way to search, and a great way to find exactly what you’re looking for. For example, if you use the slashtag /techblog when searching for Microsoft, you get all the technology blogs for Microsoft. Using whichever slashtag you like, such as /similar, /amazon, /news, or /date, or really anything, slashtags make it very simple to quickly filter your results to exactly what you are looking for (/similar is the best in our opinion of course).
After a close partnership with the Blekko team we at SimilarGroup were able to power the technology for getting similar sites to any site in their search engine. Simply go to Blekko.com and search “bbc /similar” and see our technology in action in their search engine.

Instead of doing a “wildcard” search on a topic then going through each hit to determine if it is worth the time to read, I now start with SimilarWeb. I can count on there being relevance to what I’m researching in the sites there. If only it had been developed YEARS ago. I’m sure I would have made better more relevant decisions in a fraction of the time.” These are only some of the comments we’ve received, but we have many more.
